Dammu Movie Review

Watched Dammu today@INOX LEPL

Dammu Movie has been in news for quite a long time right from its start.  This is because of its director Boyapati’s massive hit Simha with Nandamuri Balakrishna. The release of the trailers in the audio function have raised the expectations to a higher peaks. Unfortunately, the final product does not match with the hype created around the release.

Well, straight to the point...I feel that this movie is Average. After such hype, audience will definitely have very high expectations. The movie has an old formulated story. Lots of violence, old styled screenplay.

Punch line:  Don’t Kill anyone, but kill every one.

Highlights:
  • Production values of Creative Commercials are very good.
  • Cinematography by Arthur Wilson was of top class.
  • Jr. NTR’s dialogues and performance.
  • Actions shots conceived by Ram – Lakshman are fresh and violent.
  • Art by Anand Sai is also adequate.
  • The buildup scenes of the hero are scripted very well by the director. Fans will be enthralled by these scenes.
  • Karthika has done her part well.
  • Venu’s and Nasser’s Performances needs a special mention along with Abhinaya.

Lowlights:

  • The screenplay lacks freshness and all the sequences are written to highlight the hero and his real life family background.
  • The family emotional scenes in the second half doesn’t gel well with the script while the violence in the second half is highlighted.
  • Trisha doesn’t have either commendable role or much footage in the movie.
  • NTR dances get monotony after Yamadonga. I feel that he uses same kind of steps and there is no freshness in his dances. I still can’t find where the problem lies. I don’t know whether the choreographers are responsible for this or is it NTR?
  • Lack of proper comedy, Bramhanandam has been successfully wasted yet again.
  • Double meaning dialogues where ever possible including song lyrics.
  • Background score of Keeravani is not upto his standard and I can confidently say that the Background score lacks the real “Dammu” in it. A few background score bits reminded me of Seetayya, Magadheera, Jayam, Lahiri Lahiri Lahirilo, Seetarama raju movies.

My Suggestion: Those who love action and violent movies. Go for it.
Nandamuri fans will like it. Success of the film depends on how it scores with the masses and family audience as this is released in Summer season.

Well coming to the rating, it is 3/5 (This is my personal opinion on this particular movie - U watch the movie and decide for yourself).
