Dookudu Review

Watched Dookudu today@INOX, ICON Mall

After grabbing the much hyped movie of Superstar Mahesh Babu’s "Dookudu" movie. Couldn't wait to watch it. Though it was the 2nd day to watch the movie. Watching it in a multiplex doesn’t make any difference whether it is a 1st day or 2nd day, Coz everyday seemed to be same here. Yeah we really miss the excitement of watching a star movie in ordinary theatre. But the quality of regular theatres has come down to a great extent on par with the new ones packed up with excellent projection and sound system. So I decided to sacrifice the excitement of the regular format theatre for the quality of the movie. Especially for a big star and the hype it has got. The theatre has been packed to the core.

Well, straight to the point...I feel that the movie is Good. The Concept is simple and woven commercial flick and the story is designed exclusively for Mahesh keeping his image and his fans expectations in mind. The Director has handled the script well and the movie has been executed well apart from few small glitches and the length. The movie has all that you need for a commercial big star flick with lots of entertainment and commercial elements.

Punch line: Comedy and Dookudu. This is what one can expect from Mahesh. His comedy timing has been tremendously hiked from that of Khaleja.

Highlights:
  • Production values of  14 Reels Entertainment
  • Cinematography of Guhan is good and too good especially in Istanbul. As DOOKUDU is the first Telugu movie to be shot in Turkey, the visuals look refreshing.
  • Mahesh’s impeccable energy and performance. The entire movie is carried on his shoulder and he has done justice to the character as well as the movie.
  • Sony Sood has done his part and the voice of his dubbing is mention worthy.
  • Prakash Raj has been tremendous with his performance as usual.
  • I have read in some post reviews the first day of release about M.S. Narayana’s comedy that it didn’t go well. But for me, it has worked definitely well, especially the parody scenes of Jr NTR, Balaya babu, Ram charan.
  • Background score is good.
  • Costumes of Rupa Vytla for Mahesh Babu are good. She has done a great job for songs especially “Itu Raaye Itu Raaye” song. This song has been my personal favorite as per visuals.
  • Bramhanandam performance is good as usual but has done his regular kind of character.
  • A few Fights are good too.
  • Sivareddy has done his part as for the mimicry and as “KAJA”.

    Lowlights:
    • Length of the movie is a bit more as nowadays audience are used to shorter flicks and in this age of short films 3hrs movie got to have real SPORT in it. In my view, it can be trimmed a bit more for at least 10 - 15mins.
    • Master Bharat has been wasted to the core.
    • Too many characters created havoc at times. Sreenu Vytla always keeps on using more no.of characters in his films, and keep on introducing character till the last 30 mins of his movies. I seriously don’t find any need for Dharmavarapu Subramanium's character in the second half. All I find is that Sreenu Vytla wants to use his team of artists and somehow create characters for them.
    • Samantha has nothing to do with the story except for the songs and the requirement of a heroine for Mahesh. But she has the TAG of a Lucky heroine as the projects she is in, are doing well at the box-office.
    • Na Paaru(Parvati Melton) chikkipoindi ee movie lo : (

My suggestion: It is a definite GO.

Well coming to the rating, it is 3.25/5 (This is my personal opinion on this particular movie - U watch the movie and decide for yourself).
