Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu Movie Review

Watched
Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu today@LEPL INOX

After the tremendous success of Ye Maya Chesave in Telugu, Gautham Vasudev Menon comes again after 2 yrs with “Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu”, lets see how it goes..The story is all about the transformation of love at various phases of Life – School, College, Career. The director succeeds in showing the ON & OFF complexities of LOVE. Gautham Menon is know for his intense and natural Love stories. This film for me, seemed like an extension to Ye Maya Chesave..

Well, straight to the point...I feel that the movie is Average. The
story line is wafer thin, but the way, director narrated it, is so natural and is easily connected to everyone's lives.
Punchline: Feel good love & romance story
Highlights:

  • Production values of Photon Kathaas are good.
  • Cinematography by MS Prabhu & Om Prakash are eye pleasing.
  • Songs are choreographed well and blending into the story and narration.
  • You will love Samantha's histrionics and action. Especially in the scenes when she was in the college. She needs a special mention in this aspect.
  • Nani is brilliant and natural as always.
  • Krishnudu has a meaty role yet again after Ye Maya chesave.
  • Illayaraja's songs were good on screen
  • Maintaining small details are very good and director has stick to them very well right from beginning to the end of the flick.
  • Lyrics of Ananth Sriram are meaningful.
  • Climax is dealt good, the way the director treats it, adds the tinge of maturity to the Climax.
  • Goutham menon is know for his intense love stories and love scenes, people easily connect to such moments in their real life. This might add mileage to the movie, and the movie is right captioned – “This could be your Love story”.

Lowlights:
  • Very slow paced narration.
  • First song is a mere waste of time.
  • Background can be much better, instead of using just only songs again.
  • Editing is inconsistent.
  • Movie could have been trimmed a bit in order to reduce the running duration.

My Suggestion: Yeto Vellipoindi Manasu is a feel good Love and Romantic entertainer provided if you can snail walk with the narration of the flick. Of course, it is a multiplex genre movie like Gautham Menon's earlier flicks & I doubt its run at the box office for a long time.

Well coming to the rating, it is 3/5 (This is my personal opinion on this particular movie - U watch the movie and decide for yourself).

Life of Pi Movie Review

                                         Watched “
Life of Pi” @INOX, Vja on 12-12-12

Coming to the movie. This movie is about Suraj Sharma from India who survives a shipwreck, and finds himself amidst on a lifeboat with a Bengal Tiger- named Richard Parker. Not only does Pi (Suraj Sharma) have to try and survive on the open ocean, but he also has to use all of his ingenuity to keep the tiger tame and fed and prevent it from devouring him.

"Life of Pi" is an adaptation to Yann Martel’s succesful "LIFE OF PI" novel. Keeping the story and script apart, I was awed by the quality of the Animals created by CGI (The Bengal Tiger, Zebra and Orangutan). Only a few years ago, this would have been either impossible or ridiculously fake-looking, but I defy anyone to watch LIFE OF PI and not be convinced the animals weren't real. If indeed, they've all been rendered with CGI, I say “LIFE OF PI” needs to win the best Visual Fx award at this year's Oscars.

Well, straight to the point...I feel that the movie is Above Average and is a must watch movie especially for its Visual effects.

Highlights:
  • MPC, Rhythm & Hues team has done wonderful CG and Visual Effect for the movie, especially the Animals and their details. Not to forget the Ocean and waves.
  • It's certainly one of the most gorgeous films I've seen in a long time now.
  • Good Sound design
  • Cinematography by Claudio Miranda in glorious. The best 3D photography in recent times.

Lowlights:
  • While I found the first half-hour a little frenzied, and jarring in it's flashback/flash-forward technique, once the shipwreck kicks in, and Pi finds himself adrift, it becomes pretty astonishing.
  • A bit of boring scenes in the first half and towards the end while Pi narrates the second story to the Insurance company personnel.

My suggestion: This is a must watch it in on the biggest screen possible at the most technically advanced theater you can find. I'd also say that it's an excellent film for kids.

Well coming to the rating, it is 3.15/5 (This is my personal opinion on this particular movie - U watch the movie and decide for yourself).

Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu Review

Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu

Watched Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu today@LEPL INOX

With stupendous success of Gabbar Singh, Pawan Kalyan comes back with Cameraman Gangatho Rambabu. After 12 years of Badri, Director and Pawan Kalyan unite to do a flick on Social responsibility.

Coming to the movie, The movie takes off with Students of two different castes fighting. Pawan Kalyan character is designed to react to regular news happenings. He is like any other common man.

Well, straight to the point...I feel that the movie is Average. The Concept is good and Pawan Kalyan characterization resembles his true nature off screen.

Highlights:

  • Production values of Universal media.
  • Dialogues of Puri Jaganadh are an asset to the movie.
  • Fights are well choreographed.
  • Second half is more meaningful rather than the First half.
  • Pawan Kalyan’s mannerisms and Dialogues are an asset.
  • Thamanna and her performance is good, though seemed over acted at times.
  • Melikal & Extraordinary songs are picturized well and “Melikalu” song remained my personal favorite.
  • Kota Srinivas garu has done well as usual.

Lowlights:

  • Seemed and reminded me of Stalin for a few scenes by the end of the movie. (People coming to a particular place in large numbers)
  • Crowd duplication scenes seemed more artificial and the length of these scenes could have been trimmed.
  • Background in the second half is good rather than for the second half.
  • Music is not up to the expectations.
  • Visual Effects in some portions seemed too artificial.
  • Second Half would have been much crispier
  • Editing & Choreography for “Pillani Chuste” is not at all good.
  • The second heroine is a mere waste to the flick.

My Suggestion : Can watch it for Pawan Kalyan and Puri Jaganath dialogues.

Well coming to the rating, it is 3.15/5 (This is my personal opinion on this particular movie - U watch the movie and decide for yourself).

Life is Beautiful Movie Review

Watched "Life is Beautiful" today@INOX, Gandhinagar

Sekhar Kammula is back with another sensible flick after the powerful “Leader” movie. Though he took two years for making Life is Beautiful, the movie has come out well. May be the casting process would have taken a lot of time as most of the lead characters are fresh faces. All of them suited well for the characters and they have definitely reached the expectations.

Coming to the movie, the movie takes off with Seenu narrating the story. The film is about perspectives of two neighbourhoods with posh and middle class families living in the same region. In today’s clumsy world, people get to live in apartments and colonies. The difference between the Financial barriers were clearly show by Sekhar Kammula. He brought beauty to both sides and perspectives. Sekhar Kammula is known for his subtle and sensible emotions, who gives a lot importance to small details of human relationships. The same continued in 'Life is Beautiful' too. The way he wrote the characterizations are just natural and connects well with the audience.

Well, straight to the point...I feel that the movie is Above Average. The film’s duration is way too big. The second half could have been trimmed a bit. The entertainment quotient is good in the film. Mother sentiment works well towards the end of the film.

Punch line: Life is Beautiful Indeed.

Highlights:
·                     Sekhar Kammula’s Wirting of Characterizations, Dialogues, Subtleness and
his obsession for Teluguness and the importance he gives for Human values
                and
relationships.
·                     Cinematography by Vijay C Kumar is an Eye feast.
·                     All songs are pictured well and they just blend into the narration.
·                     Amala, Shriya and Anjala Zaveri performed well and did justice to
                their respective characters.

Lowlights:
 ·                     Duration of the movie is more.
·                     Background score could have been more intense.
·                     Amala’s character total runtime was felt less.
·                     Few scenes doesn’t have much importance – Flight scene, Beauty pageant
·                     Anjala Zaveri doesn’t have much footage either.
·                     Veturi garu used to write all the songs for Sekhar Kammula’s movies.
His absence can be  clearly present in the songs (Though good work is done
                by Ananth Sriram & Vanamali)
·                     There are a few similarities in this film, with Happy Days movie.

My Suggestion: Watch this movie for Human values & Relationships.  Do mind the length of the film.
Well coming to the rating, it is 3.15/5 (This is my personal opinion on this particular movie - U watch the movie and decide for yourself).

Ek Tha TIGER movie review

Watched
Ek Tha Tiger today@INOX, LEPL

Watched Ek Tha Tiger today. The movie has got a lot of craze before the release of the film as Salman khan is set on a HIT spree. Seemed like Salman Khan is concentred on Ramzan Releases.
Coming to the movie, It is the story The movie is a romantic thriller which tells the story of a Secret Agent falling in Love with an ISI agent. Tiger (Salman) falls in love with the professor's caretaker Zoya (Katrina Kaif) who is studying at a fictional dance academy, and together they escape and travel on a journey which in turn takes them from Dublin to Istanbul then to Kazakhstan and Chile.

Well, straight to the point...I feel that the movie is Average, with Romance and Thriller part with good Action quotient.

Punchline : Ek Tha Tigress too.

Highlights:
  • Wonderfully Choreography Action sequences. One of a kind in recent Hindi flicks.
  • Top notch & Great camera work by Aseem Mishra. Especially in Action sequences.
  • “Masahalla” (End rolling titles) & “Lapaata” song are canned well and is eye pleasing.
  • Background score by Julius Packiam is noteworthy especially for stunts and the way he had taken care of the acoustics for certain scenes. (The one which I liked is, the sound design when Salman Khan enter the scientist’s house when he sees Katrina for first time – Heroine Intro scene.)
  • Stunts by James Bamford (Watchmen), Serkan Doner (Hunting Season, Dragon Trap),Steve McQuillan(Lord of the Rings) are good and obviously reminds us of Hollywood Flicks.
  • Salman – Katrina chemistry worked well on screen.
  • Locations are fresh and virgin on Indian screen.
  • Katrina needs a special mention for her hard work for stunts. She definitely did a good job on that.

Lowlights:
  • Love track is very slow in narration.
  • Climax isn’t much effective (Abrupt to some extent).
  • Entertainment quotient is low.

My Suggestion: It’s all about Salman – Katrina chemistry. Can watch it if u are a Romantic - Action - Thriller movie lover.

Well coming to the rating, it is 3.15/5 (This is my personal opinion on this particular movie - U watch the movie and decide for yourself).

Julayi Movie Review

Watched "Julayi" on Friday@INOX, LEPL

After the disastrous flop of Badrinath, Allu Arjun comes back with JULAYI movie. The audio has become a chart buster and the DSP-Allu Arjun Duo combo proved it yet again this time too.

Coming to the movie, the movie takes off with showing Allu Arjun  as a free go type guy with no responsibilities and a guy who searches ways to find easy money. The hero and villain characterisations are equally weighted with their respective IQ levels.

Well, straight to the point...I feel that the movie is Above Average. There interval block seems to be dragged with chase sequence. The entertainment quotient is good in the film.

Punch line: Money earned easily will never stay with us.

Highlights:

  • Production values of  “Harika & Hasini Creations” are good.
  • Cinematography of  Chota K Naidu & Sam K Naidu is good. Especialy the songs are colorful.
  • Picturisation of “Mee Intiki Mundhu” & “ Oh Madhu” songs are  good.
  • Allu Arjun does the Character of  “Ravindra” with ease.
  • Bramhanandam has got a good role after a long time in the recent times.
  • Allu Arjun’s Costumes needs a special mention.
  • Dialogues of Trivikram are good as usual.
  • Dances by Allu Arjun are good. It is good that he encourages new talent by introducing new choreographer to the industry.

Lowlights:

  • The Visual effects in a few fights seemed artificial and didn’t blend seamlessly.
  • The Heroine is missed towards the end of the flick. I wonder where Ileana has disappeared towards the end of the movie.
  • A few fights seemed to be superficial for a normal hero. This could have been avoided to make fights believable.
  • Ileana should seriously concentrate on putting up some flab (weight) under her skin. She looked like 0.00 size (point Zero size).

My Suggestion: You can watch this movie once for Allu Arjun dances and Trivikram dialogues. It has the required Entertainment quotient.

Well coming to the rating, it is 3.15/5 (This is my personal opinion on this particular movie - U watch the movie and decide for yourself).

COCKTAIL movie review

 Watched COCKTAIL today@LEPL INOX

The publicity department has rocked the movie with its publicity, making it one of the most awaited Hindi flicks in this Year. The songs are a win-win, right from its audio release. The concept of one guy, two girls and an emerging love tale isn't an innovative subject matter for Hindi movies. Lots of movies have come in recent times with similar kind of plot. But that ends the comparison with COCKTAIL. The romance & friendship with the threesome adds the necessary alcoholic content to this Cocktail.

Well, straight to the point...I feel that the movie is Above Average with different screenplay and dexterity in handling the three diverge characters of the script. The Concept is kind of fresh and narration of the movie is very kinda new.

Punchline : Awesome Threesome

Highlights:
  • Wonderful performances by the Deepika Padukone, Saif & Diana Penty.
  • Good Screenplay with right twists when needed.
  • Good cinematography by Anil Mehta.
  • Music by Pritam is good, especially when seen on screen.
  • Good climax and happy ending finally.
  • Costumes are not only graceful, but also, they definitely dictate the wardrobes of the youth.
  • Three divergent characterizations of the lead cast.
  • Background score by Salim Sulaiman are classy and blends with the script well.
  • The screen presence and chemistry between Saif and Deepika needs a special mention.
  • Deepika Padukone steals the show all through the movie and Nails her character to the core with ease (One of her best performances I would say).

Lowlights:
  • Second half could have been crispier and narration at times, paces down in various junctures of the flick.
  • It isn't that regular entertaining kind of Bollywood flick. It gets well with the metro multiplexes and hence might not do well with regular movie lovers.
  • Second half lack the binding to the seats matter when compared to the first half of the movie.

My Suggestion:  Can watch it once, for the TRIO performances of the lead cast.

Well coming to the rating, it is 3.15/5 (This is my personal opinion on this particular movie - U watch the movie and decide for yourself).

Eega Movie Review

Watched Eega today@LEPL INOX,

Eega is been in news right from its announcement. After release of the teasers the entire Telugu film industry got curios about this magnanimous graphics extravaganza. Everyone was literally waiting for this movie. Though the movie has been postponed serially, finally EEGA has been on screen yesterday (6th July, 2012).

Well, straight to the point...I feel that the movie is Average. The story is a routine revenge formula known for ages. Villain irks the hero and kills him; hero gets back to villain in some form and takes revenge on the villain.

Punch line: Eega effect la Gola
Highlights:

  • Production values of  Vaarahi Chalanachitram are of top class.
  • Cinematography is good. Especially the scenes which includes CG which are very painstaking for the cinematographer. Senthil has tried his best to get this output.
  • Sudeep’s Performance. He steals the show in the entire movie. He is very apt for the character.
  • Eega obviously.
  • Background score is good and gels well with the audience and the narration of the story. Especially in the emotional scenes.
  • Visual Effects steals the show (Most of the work done by MAKUTA VFX). Especially with Eega’s mannerisms and emotions.
  • Rajamouli's making skills need a special mention.

Lowlights:

  • If any big hero had done this film, it would have been a disaster. Nani has very little footage (Approximately 30 mins max)
  • Second half is patchy with illogical elements in narration.
  • Entertainment quotient is less in the second half. Apart from Nani’s performance and Tagubothu Ramesh's one hilarious scene.
  • Though the story has nothing new to offer, Eega is one of a kind movie from Telugu industry which would be talked after. (At National Level for its efforts and making skills)

My Suggestion: It’s up to you guys. Kids will enjoy the movie for sure.

Well coming to the rating, it is 3/5 (This is my personal opinion on this particular movie - U watch the movie and decide for yourself). Another 0.25 can be added only for Visual effects.

Sakuni Movie Review

Watched "Sakuni" today@INOX, LEPL

Karthik kicks back with another tamil dubbing movie after sometime. His most awaited SAKUNI movie has been in news right from its announcement time. The audio scored by GV Prakash has been liked by a few set of music lovers especially “Manasulo Madhuve” has been a chartbuster and gets through into  top 20 songs. We can know that this is based on politics by seeing the teasers of this movie. Well, let’s see how the movie copes at box office.

Coming to the movie, the movie takes off with Prakash Raj's tif with Chandra Mohan for Political mileage. He 'cashes in', the death of Chandra Mohan and becomes the Chief Minister of the state. Karthik does the role of a common man who comes from a village for the help of CM regarding his house issue with a Rail contract which in turn wants to demolish their ancestral house. Karthi, later finds out that the contract is related to the CM himself. The entire movie is carried by Karthi on his shoulder and he almost appears in the entire footage of the movie.
The movie is entertaining in the first half and the main story starts from the second half of the film. It is about how Karthi takes revenge on Prakash Raj using his ‘Wit’ and Diplomatic ways to reciprocate and win to Prakash Raj’s ill moves in the state politics.

Well, straight to the point...I feel that the movie is Average. There is no story in the first half and the second half has the entire story part but the narration isn’t that gripping and justifies the title to a few extent.

Punch line: Extremely intelligent but devious hero
Highlights:
  • Production values of Studio Green (Original Makers) are good and match the necessary values for the script which they opted for.
  • Cinematography of  PG Muthiah is good.
  • Picturisation of “Manasulo Madhuve” song is eye pleasing.
  • Karthi is natural, attractively handsome and acts with ease. His costumes are simple and eye pleasing too.
  • Radhika, Roja, Kota Srinivas Rao has done their roles with ease and are apt for their roles.
  • Comedian Santhanam's role is entertaining and he balances the movie to a lot of extent as a side kick to the hero.
Lowlights:
  • Screenplay could have been better, as the director (Shankar Dayal - a  new comer) misses a few logics while executing a few tiff – riff scenes, as the script is based on Mind games between the Lead hero and the villain.
  • First half is entertaining and second half misses the entertaining part and narration misses the logic in a few parts.
  • Heroine Pranitha has nothing to do with the second half. I wish she was paid only for the 1st half (on a humor tone). She totally disappears from the movie from the second half except for two scenes.
  • A high caliber artist like Nasser is wasted in the movie with an improper role which is not up to his standards.
  • Music is average and songs are misplaced to some extent.

My Suggestion: You can watch this movie once. No hard feelings and is entertaining like any other Karthi movies. But do keep in mind, go with zero expectations.

Well coming to the rating, it is 3/5 (This is my personal opinion on this particular movie - U watch the movie and decide for yourself).
