Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu Movie Review

Watched
Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu today@LEPL INOX

After the tremendous success of Ye Maya Chesave in Telugu, Gautham Vasudev Menon comes again after 2 yrs with “Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu”, lets see how it goes..The story is all about the transformation of love at various phases of Life – School, College, Career. The director succeeds in showing the ON & OFF complexities of LOVE. Gautham Menon is know for his intense and natural Love stories. This film for me, seemed like an extension to Ye Maya Chesave..

Well, straight to the point...I feel that the movie is Average. The
story line is wafer thin, but the way, director narrated it, is so natural and is easily connected to everyone's lives.
Punchline: Feel good love & romance story
Highlights:

  • Production values of Photon Kathaas are good.
  • Cinematography by MS Prabhu & Om Prakash are eye pleasing.
  • Songs are choreographed well and blending into the story and narration.
  • You will love Samantha's histrionics and action. Especially in the scenes when she was in the college. She needs a special mention in this aspect.
  • Nani is brilliant and natural as always.
  • Krishnudu has a meaty role yet again after Ye Maya chesave.
  • Illayaraja's songs were good on screen
  • Maintaining small details are very good and director has stick to them very well right from beginning to the end of the flick.
  • Lyrics of Ananth Sriram are meaningful.
  • Climax is dealt good, the way the director treats it, adds the tinge of maturity to the Climax.
  • Goutham menon is know for his intense love stories and love scenes, people easily connect to such moments in their real life. This might add mileage to the movie, and the movie is right captioned – “This could be your Love story”.

Lowlights:
  • Very slow paced narration.
  • First song is a mere waste of time.
  • Background can be much better, instead of using just only songs again.
  • Editing is inconsistent.
  • Movie could have been trimmed a bit in order to reduce the running duration.

My Suggestion: Yeto Vellipoindi Manasu is a feel good Love and Romantic entertainer provided if you can snail walk with the narration of the flick. Of course, it is a multiplex genre movie like Gautham Menon's earlier flicks & I doubt its run at the box office for a long time.

Well coming to the rating, it is 3/5 (This is my personal opinion on this particular movie - U watch the movie and decide for yourself).

Life of Pi Movie Review

                                         Watched “
Life of Pi” @INOX, Vja on 12-12-12

Coming to the movie. This movie is about Suraj Sharma from India who survives a shipwreck, and finds himself amidst on a lifeboat with a Bengal Tiger- named Richard Parker. Not only does Pi (Suraj Sharma) have to try and survive on the open ocean, but he also has to use all of his ingenuity to keep the tiger tame and fed and prevent it from devouring him.

"Life of Pi" is an adaptation to Yann Martel’s succesful "LIFE OF PI" novel. Keeping the story and script apart, I was awed by the quality of the Animals created by CGI (The Bengal Tiger, Zebra and Orangutan). Only a few years ago, this would have been either impossible or ridiculously fake-looking, but I defy anyone to watch LIFE OF PI and not be convinced the animals weren't real. If indeed, they've all been rendered with CGI, I say “LIFE OF PI” needs to win the best Visual Fx award at this year's Oscars.

Well, straight to the point...I feel that the movie is Above Average and is a must watch movie especially for its Visual effects.

Highlights:
  • MPC, Rhythm & Hues team has done wonderful CG and Visual Effect for the movie, especially the Animals and their details. Not to forget the Ocean and waves.
  • It's certainly one of the most gorgeous films I've seen in a long time now.
  • Good Sound design
  • Cinematography by Claudio Miranda in glorious. The best 3D photography in recent times.

Lowlights:
  • While I found the first half-hour a little frenzied, and jarring in it's flashback/flash-forward technique, once the shipwreck kicks in, and Pi finds himself adrift, it becomes pretty astonishing.
  • A bit of boring scenes in the first half and towards the end while Pi narrates the second story to the Insurance company personnel.

My suggestion: This is a must watch it in on the biggest screen possible at the most technically advanced theater you can find. I'd also say that it's an excellent film for kids.

Well coming to the rating, it is 3.15/5 (This is my personal opinion on this particular movie - U watch the movie and decide for yourself).
